Ben & Jerry’s: Upcycling Program

Nationwide

Challenge

Ben & Jerry’s asked Trigger(House to bring new meaning to the phrase “waste not, want not” by finding a creative and environmentally friendly way to reuse years’ worth of event signage, rather than sending it off to a landfill.

Approach

T(H carefully selected the perfect partner in a like-minded, eco-focused upcycling company called Mile High Workshop that specializes in converting old banners and signage into functional (and fashionable) bags. Similar to Greyston Bakery, one of Ben & Jerry’s longtime partners, Mile High Workshop creates employment opportunities for those seeking to rebuild from addictions, homelessness, and incarceration. T(H also designed, copywrote, and produced the custom bag hang tags, and handled all the logistics, communication, and shipping for the program.

Results

Mile High Workshop produced 600 zipper pouches, 350 small totes, and 50 duffle bags out of recycled event materials and will continue to partner with Ben & Jerry’s to ensure all their branded materials find a new life in another form, rather than contribute to waste and pollution.
