JBL: SXSW ’26

SXSW; Austin, TX

Challenge

Launch a high-impact SXSW presence that didn’t just show product, but proved it. JBL needed to own every moment of the festival, positioning its premium headphones and portable audio as the go-to companion from stage to street.

Approach

An ecosystem, not an activation: We built an interconnected brand presence that moved with SXSW, embedding JBL into the rhythm of the festival instead of layering on top of it. Every touchpoint felt native and every interaction felt earned. | Credibility at the core: JBL partnered with Rolling Stone’s Future of Music showcase, outfitting the iconic Moody Theater stage with JBL Professional audio and putting the brand behind the sound of top-tier talent for three nights of exciting, headline-dominating live performances. | JBL Livebrary (The Hub): At 3Ten ACL Live, we reimagined a traditional library as a high-energy sonic playground. Custom builds, curated “stacks,” and hands-on listening turned product specs into something you could feel. Live sets and interviews from Steve Aoki, Bonnie & Clyde, Taz, Sophia & The Antoinettes, and many more, kept the room packed. | Extended everywhere: We took over SXSW Clubhouses throughout the city with Headphone Lounges: premium listening, hammock seating, and wireless streaming that upgraded how fans experienced the festival in real time. | Built for artists: Inside the Artist Lounge, we created a Bandbox-driven space for performers to plug in, reset, and create, backed by a JBL-led panel that put the brand at the center of the industry conversation. Not just a demo, but a full-on jam session. | Community in motion: The JBL Campus Fun Run turned product testing into a movement, with 165 runners, real-world performance, and a direct line into SXSW energy. | Real-time content: A distributed network of talent and creators captured the big moments as they happened—fueling a nonstop stream of raw, real-time content that extended the experience far beyond Austin.

Results

JBL didn’t just show up, they became part of SXSW’s DNA. A multi-venue, multi-moment system that fused music, tech, and culture, amplified by Rolling Stone’s platform and powered by real-world product use. Whether fans were running, lounging, creating, or front row at a performance, they weren’t just experiencing SXSW—they were experiencing JBL.
