Food Network: Rooftop Chopped @ NY Wine & Food Festival

Challenge

Transform the 2016 Food Network + Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival on Pier 92 into a dynamic and memorable Rooftop Chopped experience, using design inspiration from the Chopped TV series to create a variety of unique experience points.

Approach

Rather than simply recreating the set of the show, Trigger(House used iconic assets to develop a visual architecture that was familiar to fans yet fresh, giving guests the undeniable sense that they are inside a Chopped experience while driving exploration, participation, and sharing. Custom elements included 20x40 free-standing Judges Lounge, 10x20 free-standing audition booth, 16' Chopped basket, Chopped entrance design, and interactive photo booth with 10 celebrity Judge overlays.

Results

Food Network’s Rooftop Chopped was the marquee event of the 3-day NYC Wine and Food Festival, with tickets selling out before the show and attendance of over 3,000 people. Guests, chefs, and Chopped judges noted the event truly felt like an extension of the TV show. Throughout the 3-hour event, over 400 photos were taken at the photo booth, with 1,050 people participating and 1,500 social media shares.
